System Mechanic is probably one of the best and most comprehensive system optimization tools available on the market. Unlike similar tools, System Mechanic does care about your system’s health. It analyses your computer deeply and identifies any minor or major threats and inconsistencies that may drag down your PC and compromise its performance. What is more – it performs a thorough repair that takes your computer back to its out-of-the-box processing speed.

It perfectly combines a wide selection of useful and efficient tools with beautifully designed dashboards and graphics to help you understand and follow each of the tasks performed. Its highly attractive interface, its extensive explanations and warning messages, and its well-organized menus make this tool suitable for all users and a pleasure to work with.

It covers all the areas that may slow down your computer’s performance, from the most sensitive to the least harmful. From the Windows registry and the RAM memory, from file allocation to Internet browsing, from startup programs to junk files, and from privacy protection to the detection of possible redundant applications, System Mechanic scans your PC looking for all possible inconsistencies that may harm or slow down your computer. First, it performs a deep scan of all your system components and provides you with a documented report of all the threats found. Some need urgent fixing, while others are left to your convenience. The program not only tells you what needs to be corrected, but what other actions should be taken to prevent them from appearing again in the future. There is where ActiveCare comes to the rescue – once configured to your liking, this tool will monitor your computer periodically to detect and fix any possible threat.

Disk maintenance and file management are the two areas where System Mechanic works more thoroughly. AcceleWrite checks that data is written on your HDDs in the most efficient way. SSD Accelerator has been designed to optimize the performance of new Solid State Drives, while Program Accelerator re-aligns your programs and files properly so that they run faster. RAM memory defragmentation, uninstallation of redundant programs, and its efficient startup manager are only some of the other utilities that will help you keep your system running as new. Some of these tools can be launched individually whenever needed, but I would recommend you to make use of PC TotalCare whenever possible to make periodic check-ups of your PC’s health. This all-in-one utility will make your computer run faster (PC Accelerator), will avoid hardware failures (PC Repair), remove unnecessary and annoying files (PC Cleanup), and save your privacy and safety (PC Security).

Depending on the state of your computer and the capacity of your HDDs, the initial fixing process may take a few hours, but I assure you it is absolutely worth the wait. System Mechanic need six hours to go through every cluster in my 2TB hard drive, to compact and defragment the Windows Registry, and to remove all junk files – when I rebooted my computer it loaded the OS in less than half the time it used to take, and it now opens and closes programs and windows, browses the Internet, and moves data from disk to disk just like it did when I turned it on for the first time.

Guest Really good interface, but poor quality. The firewall doesn't work properly, the antivirus doesn't update, junk and registry scanners miss many errors or garbage files and so on...It used to be great in early versions, around 1999. There is so much free software out there now that performs much better than this one... it's a real shame
